Frank
I have tested out the premises of this post. Social media works in a very powerful way.For the past three months we have used an Integrated Recruitment Marketing Strategy for Health Care provider. Our results using Twitter and LinkedIn have been great. We have had 6 of 12 hires including 4 C level candidates.

WE provide our services on a retainer basis. The Low cost recruitment agency model is a way to go. But you need active candidates. Using social media we were able to locate passive candidates that were looking if the right job came up.

It most definitely is one for discussion. My opinion is that until this area of recruitment is more established, with more chartered cases of successes with quality candidates, this school of thought will always be on the fringe. Coupled with privacy issues, this does not make things easy. The frequency and volume of potential candidates is appealing especially for basic 'free promotion'. As an SME owner, the most cost effective way of recruitment for me are Low Cost Recruitment Agencies, that offer a one-off flat fee, once the post is filled and not the industry standard of 20% salary.

Another very interesting article - social network marketing would be much more prolific if there wasn't such distrust of new technologies by established companies.

hi! i came across this article and found it very educating. i have yet to learn more about the use of social media. the ideas here sadly true, fewer people are reading newspapers, so it's also good to take advantage of the internet through social media. thanks!
