Working Together with Job Seekers and Employers

I’m Adrienne Barnett and I look forward to working together with job seekers and employers in our area. First, let me share with you my background and passion regarding jobzcafe. After nine years as an HR Professional, I left the corporate world to explore my entrepreneurial passion and join the team at jobzcafe. I was frustrated by the difficulty I experienced finding candidates for the positions I needed to fill, and I watched friends struggle with their job searches.
I moved to the region in 1994 to attend Hollins University. The first time I drove down I-81 from the boarding school I was attending near Baltimore to preview Hollins, I knew I was going to build my life here. Even though I had never been here, I felt like I was driving home. It was true. My passions include economic development, watching the markets, investing, international political economy, reading Wall Street Journal, watching Bloomberg TV, leadership development, volunteering and working toward positive change in the community. I’m involved in NewVAConnects, Society for Human Resource Management, Junior League, Valley Forward, Square Society, Young at Art, Contemporaries and Roanoke Outdoor and Social Club. In addition, I serve on the Roanoke Arts Commission and Trust House Board of Directors. I really enjoy being involved and getting to know people.
I love living here and I get so upset watching friends leave the area because for one reason or another they couldn’t find a decent job. This is why I’m here. We want to help job seekers realize what is out there and bring job seekers and employers together to meet and converse face to face in a relaxed environment. There is a better way and we are on a mission to make it happen!
